I'm an experienced business-systems analyst keen on agile methods and 4GLs in general.  I would like to gain experience with Pega and so I'm about to open a Pega 7 Express account.  I assume the tutorial will have an example application, but is there a list of applications one could build to help learn the whole system well and in quick time?

Also, would it then be possible (after having built them, to show them to other users for review and feedback ?

The trial application includes a sample service request case type that you can modify. You can remove the sample from your application if you don't want to use it.

You can also invite other people to your trial application. You can only invite others as end users. That means they can use your application but they can not make any configuration changes to the application.

You can always export the application and import it to your own 7.1.9 environment at which point you can allow others to have author/administrative access.
