Savable Data Pages: Techniques to detect page changes [LSA Data Excellence]

What approaches are available to detect whether a page has changed and needs to be saved?

Investigate the pxComparePages Activity which is what drives the "Rule Compare" capability that emerged in Pega 7, provided you can retain or reproduce the "before" state of the page so as to compare it to the current (potentially modified) state.

Alternatively, calculate a hash of the (significant) page content after it has loaded (in a Response Data Transform or Post Load Processing Activity) and keep this on the Data Page to compare to a hash of the same content at save time.

Discussion on this topic was sought from the LSA Data Excellence (Pega 8.4) webinar conducted in July 2020. The webinar and its full set of discussions that arose from it are available at LSA Data Excellence: Webinar, Questions & Answers
