Upgrading application from v6.1 to v7.1
I am planning to move application from PRPC v6.1 SP2 to v7.1. I have just started analysing the application to decide the migration approach. Can any one help on to proceed with migration approach? How to know which rule type will be plug n play or need to reworked? How to estimate the changes?
Please provide any link to document on PDN (if any).
Well, what we did was import the applications we have into a PRPC PE edition of 7.1 to find any issues. To be honest, we stay fairly close to the Pega guardrails, we did not find many issues in upgrading our applications to 7.1 in this aproach.
The way to upgrade an application from PRPC 6.1 to Pega 7.1 is to run the Installation and Upgrade Assistant (IUA) against your PRPC 6.1 Database repository. Once the Repository has been upgraded to Pega 7.1 you can then test your upgraded application to identify any issues that may require fine tuning. As Leo mentioned if you adhered to Pega Best Practices you should not encounter many if any issues. As a preemptive measure you could run a Heat Map Shaded by Number of Warnings (Pega Button>Application>Inventory>Heat Map) against your PRPC 6.1 application and work to reduce the number of Rule Warnings before upgrading to Pega 7.1. For more information on using the Installation and Upgrade Assistant in Pega 7.1 please search the PDN for "Installation and Upgrade Assistant" and then download the appropriate Upgrade Guide for the version of PRPC you are upgrading too. For more information on using the Heat Map search for PRKB Article 25614 on the PDN.
