I created a sample application using Pega Designer studio in Personal Edition (ver. 7.2.2).
Now, i would like to create a copy of the sample application, change a few attributes and have both the applications running side-by-side.
*I am aware that it's not a good idea to have copies like this... I just want to understand how to have copies of same application, running on same server.
I tried to create an empty application, and then copy the sample application's whole ruleset in new application's ruleset. Now the copy of sample application works fine. However, it appears that the Ruleset copy wizard altered sample application's ruleset in some way, that the sample application is destroyed..
Please let me know about the best approach you would take. Any help regarding this is appreciated!
Thanks a lot.

I think best is to use the Pega 7 OOTB package wizard to create a complete package as a backup of your sample application. Then follow your own described process. Once copying is done, import the backup package.
Do you mean to say to add a step#6 to my earlier points, and import APP1 (i have a backup), so that both APP1 and APP2 will work? >> Yes try this additional step. Once backup is imported then cross-check the APP1 ruleset stack and count of rules in each ruleset to ensure nothing is changed.
On basis on our discussion on the PDN private message, I have created a product enhancement request on our internal portal. The same is notated under the Related Support Case number field in the original post above. Please refer this ID to your Pega Account Executive for next steps.
