While trying to implement reporting feature we have a report under a report category. While trying to perform save as operation on an open report we get the option to choose a Report Name and Report Title. Report Name is the name of Report Definition that will be created if we save the report while Report Title is the name of the shortcut of the report that will be created. If we enter a duplicate Report Name we are getting correct validation that the Report Name already exists. But, if we enter a duplicate Report Title we are not getting the same kind of validation. It is a normal OOB behaviour but the client's request is that we should get the validation on report title also.
Please suggest how can we implement this behaviour
After analyzing the trace of the SaveAs functional, Rule-Obj-Report-Definition.pzRRSaveAs and Rule-Obj-Report-Definition.pzValidateSaveAsInput activities contains the validation of the report title and report name.
Hope this is what you are looking for.

Shortcuts are automatically created only when the option "Display in Report browser" is selected. And while a shortcut is created, it sets the 'Shortcut title' same as the 'Report title'.
But the Shortcut 'key' or 'ID' is same as the Report Name/ID. ID is the one which will generally be unique and thereby validated for uniqueness. I think the current design is acceptable except that the shortcut title(label probably) has to be later changed in shortcut rule when the Report title is changed.
