Pega upgrade from 7.1.9 to 8.6 | on Premise to On Premise | Pega platform | App server –WebLogic 18.104.22.168 | DB Server – Oracle server 22.214.171.124
As per PLATFORM SUPPORT GUIDE VERSION 8.6 –
Related to JDBC Drivers , we have noticed that only Ojdbc8.jar was mentioned (there is no mention of Ojdbc7 or Ojdbc6) – so is it safe to assume that none of the Pega versions 8.1 to 8.6 supports Ojdbc7.jar or Ojdbc6.jar ?
Also it was mentioned that “For Oracle 12c, using the following version can cause synchronization to fail when adding an offline attachment: 126.96.36.199.0. Instead, please use version 188.8.131.52 or later”
That means any of the Pega features would fail if we use Oracle 184.108.40.206.0 for Pega 8.6 or do we need to definitely upgrade to Oracle 220.127.116.11?
On the same lines, related to Database server - it was mentioned as Oracle12c is supported for Pega versions 8.1 to 8.6.
Can you be specific with exact versions and confirm which all Pega versions support Oracle 18.104.22.168.0 without any issues and for which versions we need to upgrade to Oracle 22.214.171.124?
Any advice/direction would be much appreciated.

1. The Oracle JDBC driver numbers correspond roughly to Oracle Java versions. So since Java 6 and Java 7 are not supported by Pega 8.x, the ojdbc8.jar file is recommended.
2. "Driver version 126.96.36.199" in the Guide refers to the JDBC driver version, not the version of the Oracle database itself. Make sure that the driver version of your ojdbc8.jar file is 188.8.131.52 or later.
3. The Oracle 12c database is supported for 8.x. This means that all versions of the Oracle 12c database are supported.
You should use the ojdbc8.jar file which is version 184.108.40.206, as we found issues with version 220.127.116.11.
According to the engineers, the ojdbc8.jar file is compatible with both Oracle DB Server 12.1 and 12.2, so you should be able to use it with either database version.
Separate from the JDBC driver – our clients have encountered a number of issues with Pega running on Oracle database version 12cR1; in addition, the extended support for 12cR1 is end-of-life as of Summer 2022. Therefore, the engineers strongly recommend that your client upgrade their database to Oracle database version 12cR2/12.2. This is not required, but it is recommended.
