Disable key triggers on autocomplete fields
Is there any way to disable the up and down arrow key triggers on an autocomplete field? What I would like to obtain is to force the user to input a minimum charset before starting to search a value, avoiding a full scan query (that is what happens at the key pressure).
Have you tried using "Min search characters" on the General tab of Autocomplete's cell properties? It forces the user to enter "x" number of minimum characters for search and retrieving the result. Hope it helps.
Yes, I tried, but the using of "min search characters" setting did not disable the arrow keys triggers on empty field. This option affects only the suggested results behavior. Using your example, the suggestions would be shown after the input of "x" characters (without pressing any key) leaving the user still able to use the arrow key trigger without any input.
Thank you all for your replies. I found my own way to solve the problem using OOTB functionalities.
On the autocomplete field I setted the "List Source" to "Clipboard Page" and specified a Data Transform with an input parameter (the same property defined on the field). On my DT I'm going to check for the parameter's length and if the condition is successfully passed I'll call the Data Page with the same input. On field actions I defined the "Post Value" for any relevant action such as mouse click, enter key, up and down arrow keys.
I attached two pictures of the configuration. Hope to help you.
