Please clarify what you mean by "splunk equivalent"
Splunk is a best-of-breed programmable log parser. Several customers use Splunk to do near-real-time analysis of Pega logs and alerts. From Splunk they in turn either do reporting or send notification to their network operations center.
Pega can be used with splunk or any other log aggregator or parser product or service (like SumoLogic)
Pega does NOT offer a general programmable log parsers to customers – we’re not going to do what splunk or sumologic already do.
Bigger question - what do you want to do with Splunk?
Are you looking to parse and analyze raw alert and exception data to assess those individual file entries that have same root cause / issue; create unique cases per root cause / issue, prioritize cases based on the number of associated instances and the severity of each instance? Are you looking to recognize "critical events" in logs and trigger notification emails? Are you looking for a UI to drill between cases and individual details? Are you looking for daily 'governance' assessment of how systems are doing and which issues have greatest impact on performance or stability?
If those are your goals, then yes, we do have "splunk equivelant"s -- PDC and AES.
AES and PDC are Pega-Specific governance, management and monitoring tools.
AES and PDC already provide most of the functionality that customers would want to achieve with Splunk – plus there’s lots of Pega-specific knowledge and logic that would take years of work to code from scratch.
Many customers have license to run AES on premise – and ALL customers can use PDC FOR FREE
- Pega does not provide a general purpose programmable log parser
- Customers can use their preferred general purpose programmable log parser, but will need to do extensive development in the parser to recognize Pega-specific structures and idioms and assess each event to determine if it is another occurrence of a known issue or a new issue entirely.
- Pega’s application management tools, AES and PDC, are pega-specific application management and governance tools and as-shipped provide most of the functionality that a customer might otherwise spend years of development time building outside of Pega with splunk or other tools.
