Downloading Pega 7.3 Personal Edition is extremely slow
I am experiencing downloading the new Pega 7.3 is very, very slow. Around 10 hours now and downloaded around 3Gb. I got a 100Mbit cable connection and located in Australia. I've tried from two different locations to download it here in Sydney but the same...slooooow.
Anybody experienced this and know any tricks? The download is only available for a week so after trying 10+ times it's slightly frustrating it is so slow.

Yes I went through the request page to ask for Pega 7.3. I got an email response Thursday the 20th July and I went through my inbox to use the download link provided there (going to ft.pega.com...).
I spoke to a colleague working with Pega yesterday who said other people are having the same issue. I would really have liked to download it as preparation for a large Pega project kicking off in order to start investigate leveraging various 7.3 features (like Kafka).
I am now trying again for the 20th or so time. As every time before the browser shows an estimated 5-6 hours download time. Yesterday and today I checked the download speed and it appear to be constantly around 2-2.2mbit as if PEGAs have capped their allowed download speed for customers or something? It is really slow. Even with the slow download speed, to make things worse the connection usually drops after a couple of hours.
Same result again. The network connection drops out after 2-3 hours. Is there a cap on the speed for customers downloading? I had similar issues with Pega 7.2 and it was more pure luck that I finally succeeded in downloading it after many attemps.
One week has passed and the download link has expired. I have lost count of how many times I tried to download it and every single time the download speed from Pega was ~2.2mbit. With such slow download speed it's virtually impossible to download a +4Gb file.

I apologize for the late response to the issues faced with the downloading of our software. Please know we are doing everything possible to mitigate the download response times and are actively seeking solutions. In the interim, may I suggest using a "download manager" which would help the process along. Given that the file is several gigabytes, download managers allow users to 'resume' downloads if there is any interruption in the process, making it possible to get the complete file intact. Some browsers have plugins and add-ons for free to help in this area.
If this is not a viable option to do, due to IT policies at your organization, I completely understand. Please enter in a support request from the My Support Portal (MSP) to request an alternative solution if downloading from this site is not possible.

i tried that approach to download PE 7.3.1 using Internet Download Manager but find no improvement plus the download cannot be resumed , if tried you will be forced to download from start, its become impossible to download PE without any disconnect .
I've reported this to the appropriate teams who manage the site and download. Using the "Feedback" link in the lower right is the best way to reach the right support team. Once the issue is resolved, someone will respond back to you. I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you.
Could you share which region you are trying to download from? We have servers in several locations globally, so this would go a long way to identify which region is having issues.
I have requested access to a new download and tried three download managers now.
1. Internet Download manager (gotten from Filehippo), and
2. Chrone download manager
3. Free download manager
With the first two I could start the download but the tools showed the download as not resumable. The third one was unable to recognise the download (I think Pega does some fiddling with redirection/resolving the end point for security reasons or so based on a seed value).
So no luck so far.... Seems to be impossible to download Pega 7.3 unless you are lucky to be able to keep a connection open for 5-6 hours (at least here in Sydney Australia).
Are you sure that the download supports resuming? I will give it one final try when I get home to eliminate any policies, etc. at my office.
Good news: Pega has been very helpful and has updated their approach for downloading Pega personal edition. It now took 4 minutes (!!!) to download it instead of timing out after 4-5 hours. It is lightning fast now.
