Email Listener mail processing selection

Dear Community,

we have a question regarding email listener functionality:
Our email listeners will be configured to listen to an exchange maibox which human users also will be able to access.
Those human user will be sending emails from that account, as well as reading incoming mails. The mails may be marked as read or unread after the human interaction.

Key points of the configuration:

  • Latency period: 300 (seconds)
  • Maximum Number of messages: 999
  • Maximum Processing Time: 500 (seconds)
  • Concurrent Threads: 1
  • Keep messages on server (IMAP): yes

The help file defines "Maximum Number of messages" as:

Enter the maximum number of messages this listener processes at runtime before it pauses for a rest period. The minimum is one message.

We are looking for documentation that explains how the listener will pick and choose the messages to process.
Based on our setup the newest mail in the mailbox may already read by a human, while the next few messages are still unread. Any combination is possible.

Will the listener skip the read one and process the unread ones? Is there any kind of configuration with which we can influence which mails the listener picks up?

Any information on this would be very appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
