General Inquiry about /temp/prpc folder in Pega Marketing
Alert from our internal unix team about disk space usage on Pega Marketing nodes.
What is the purpose and the usage of /temp/prpc created/used by Pega Marketing and how does it impact the campaign execution?
Keep running campaigns a number of times and at some point we can see high disk usage against /app/pega/application/temp/prpc folder. Specifically against the folder /app/pega/application/temp/prpc/data/data/pxdecisionresults_pega_decisionengine_********
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/vg01-lv_app 48G 39G 7.5G 84% /app
Under /app ,
Under this folder the top 5 files which are consuming most as follows:-
These are Cassandra/Decision Data Store files. All your delayed learning data will go into these files, so you will need to ensure you have enough space to support your needs. A sizing effort should have indicated how much space you would need for these files given your needs.
The life span of records in this dataset is governed by a "Time to Live" setting in the strategy shape in the data flow. This is a Cassandra property (TTL) and Cassandra will periodically purge data that is marked to be no longer valid. I believe the general recommendation is to have twice the amount of disk space available as might be needed for the data itself.
I don't know which version of Pega you're on but in some version there was a bug where this TTL was not honored and data would grow. There is a hot fix for this - Pega Support should know more: SE-40749.
