There is an alternative to go with manual table creation and index. Open the property-rule you'd like to optimize and from the action menu select 'optimize for reporting'. Note that this action item will only appear on 'optimizable' properties and if you have the rights to do so. For more details see the when rule pzShowPropertyOptimization.
