Import the 6.1 rules package to 7.2 pega application
Would like to know if 6.1 rules package (zip) can be imported 7.2 environment. And run revalidate and save the rules in the package for the compilation and fix any errors. Is the above process can be done? Is there any issues in importing the package?
I assume you're talking about your own custom rules imported via a rule admin product? Assuming so, it should work. I don't recall exactly which versions had potential extra steps, so possibly there would be more to do. For example, if you have flow actions with the code auto-generated in the flow action rule and not an embedded section, you'll need to fix that. I believe there's an activity to do that for you automatically, but I haven't don't it in years, so I may be misremembering it. You'll want to check the upgrade guide to see if there are steps like that.
Additionally, if you have customized out of the box rules, you may need to rework them since the architecture has definitely evolved between PRPC 6.1 and Pega 7.2. So the short answer is yes, but the longer answer is that you'll need to do some testing to confirm everything works as expected and there will likely be some detail work you'll want to do as a result of those tests.
Thanks for the response Mike. Assume the 6.1 package has rules like (Rule-Obj-Activity, Rule-Obj-Model etc.) which are pega default rule types and they are not customized. if this 6.1 package is imported to 7.2 environment, the rules will still work as they are not custom but default rule types. And its expected there will be no issue in the future if the rules imported works as expected. Please clarify.
