Inline Style is not applying to the Link Control

I have a set of Link controls that should be applied a common CSS formatting. I want to do this via the CSS rule referred in my Skin rule by specifying a CSS class in the control's presentation tab. The issue is the formatting referred in the CSS class in not applied to the elements. I have also tried the "inline style" in the control but no luck.

The attached screenshot contains the formatting applied to the element. As you can see, the CSS class "portalLinks7" and inline style's priority is not on the top. I am not sure why. Can somebody help me understand why formatting on the direct element by referring the "a" in the CSS rule is taking more priority than the inline style? Thanks in advance.
