JMS is the specification provided by Sun for messaging. MQ Queue is the IBM's implementation of JMS. Similary JBoss has its own implementation.
MQlisteners provide the information needed to route WebSphere MQ messages from a specific queue to an MQ service rule. An MQlistener specifies which queue contains the messages to be consumed and which MQ service rule(s) are to process the messages.
When a message is delivered to the queue, the listener forwards the message to a Service MQ rule. After the corresponding service activity runs, the listener may send a response message to a specified response queue. If the listener is configured to use transacted messaging and the MQ service fails to process the message successfully, the listener requeues the message for another attempt at processing or routes the message to a backout queue.
JMSlisteners provide the information needed to route Java Message Service (JMS) messages from a specific topic or queue to a JMS service rule. A JMSlistener or JMS MDB listener data instance specifies which queue or topic contains the messages to be consumed and which JMS service rule(s) will process the messages.
Can I use JMS listner to route the messages from Webshpere MQ messaging server to the Service JMS rule since Webshere MQ also its own JMS implementaion. Basically the JMS rules in PRPC allows us to connect with a messaging server that is JMS compliant in which case the Webshpere MQ is.
