Log files (PegaRULES) in HA environment (multiple app nodes)
We are planning to have two app nodes (Tomcat) and one database for Pega 7.4 installation. Here is a simple question - Are log files generated in both app nodes? For example, what happens if user A accesses app node #1 and executes an activity (Log-Message) and user B accesses app node #2 and executes the same activity (Log-Message)? User A's Log-Message is only logged into PegaRULES.log at app node #1 and User B's Log-Message goes to app node #2?
If so, do people usually merge two log files for investigation when trouble occurs because we don't know which app nodes for every activities?
No, we are not merging the files. We are investigating by looking in log files from all nodes separately. On the same beginning, you may look for the time when the issues occur. Then check the username and thread ID which are corresponding to the correct time, and follow by them to check what happens.
Is describing how to view and download PegaRULES logs.
The alert log contains a sequence of text files (known as alert events) that support performance-related monitoring. The alert log supports the optional Autonomic Event Services (AES) Enterprise Edition product, which summarizes and monitors alerts across multiple nodes in a cluster.
The Pega log, also known as the console log or system log, contains error messages, debug messages, information messages, and Java-related diagnostics that have been created since the server was most recently started. The Pega log uses the naming format PegaRULES-YYYY-MMM-DD.log, where the date portion of the name indicates the date the application server was recently started (on the current node).
