In page 31 of the installation the JDBC string specified is WebLogic console value but your mentioning it as Pega portal "On page 31 of the installation guide, the string is specified but inside my application the string is absent and my application is still working." . So as per the above note your refering to Pega portal but it should be WebLogic console. More over you noted "In the WebLogic Console, the JDBC URL String is specified for both Databases and my application is working." as per this you have already configured the data soures in correct way.
for your question "Where would I find the settings for the PegaRules Database which is able to connect without specifying the JDBC URL Connection String inside the Developer Portal? "
We will configure data base information on server side it self in your case in Weblogic console.
Thanks for your reply. I am taking over a Legacy PEGA Application whose PegaRULES password has not been changed in almost ten years.
My understanding is that the DB Connection has to be set up in the Developer PORTAL (under Rules Explorer -> SysAdmin -> Database) AND
this JDBC Connection URL String (in the developer portal) has to match with the JDBC Connection URL String in the WebLogic Console.
As you can see from the screen shots, the custom DB in my application has a JDBC URL specified, while the PegaRULES DB has no JDBC URL specification.
From inside my developer portal, I can see that the JDBC URL Connection String is empty but in the WebLogic Console the JDBC URL String is populated.
The Connection to the PegaRULES DB (see screen shot) says the following
1. Use Configuration in Preferences
2. Entry created by System
3. Record any advanced options for this database in the PegaRULES preferences file
The installation guide (pg 31) does not specify this particular type of set up and I need to know where this is specified - how a PEGA application can connect to a DB WITHOUT specifying the JDBC URL Connection String inside the Developer Portal but the JDBC URL being specified ONLY in the WebLogic Console. How does PEGA know and/or pick up the connection to the PegaRULES DB?
The DB password is set to change and I need to know all the locations I need to change the password for the PegaRULES DB.
As you have described the behaviour is on 6.1 sp2.
As I understand the behaviour you are reporting with addition of "oracle.jdbc.v8compatible=true" extra DB connection property while adding the JDBC url in database rule in PRPC. So you need not add this extra connection property "oracle.jdbc.v8compatible=true" when you define database rule, you can use only the base JDBC url.
oracle.jdbc.v8compatible=true is used to define PegaRULES datasource on application server to support 'Date' datatype for the Data model defined in PRPC rulebase.
