Non Standard CTI Integration

We have a requirement for non standard (means outside the supported CTI environments as per https://community.pega.com/knowledgebase/cti-integration-pegacall).

Question: Please comment if anyone having experience with such non standard implementations and what should we check in the CTI system to determine if the integration with the target CTI is if at all possible.
