Openspan Service Issue
There is one RPA application of ours written in Openspan version 7.1, this application targets to launch another application (ex: Test.exe), on click of one button given in UI form.
This application was running fine since 5-6 months, but now we are facing one issue while launching test.exe application on button click. This test.exe is a separate desktop application that connects with web service to fetch some data.
We have investigated through logs that while clicking on button to launch test.exe below exception is getting logged:
Exception logged in DB below (using SQL to log exceptions):
RAEUCAE000004:Starting Test 0 ->Exception Type: OpenSpan.Common.Memory.SharedMemoryInitializationException
Message : Unable to open private shared memory. Verify that service 'OpenSpan Services' is running

As per the message we have seen that Openspan service is getting stopped. Restarting the same also not working as its coming again and again. Can you please help that why is it coming to all the systems, or please share any workaround which can be implemented here.

I would suggest that you open a support request and have someone look at your system. In addition, I would suggest that you consider upgrading to a later version of Pega Robotics as 7.1 is quite old at this point. If you do open an SR, please report the number here for tracking purposes.
This problem had also been there with RAR version 8.0.1058, and an SR (SR-C8266) was subsequently raised. The SR appears to have been resolved with problem getting resolved upon upgrading to 8.0.1080.
However, we have this issue generated in 8.0.1088 today in 2 production machines. So it appears that the issue is still there, and we will be raising an SR for this on Monday after confirming the logs.
Please update in case an SR has already been raised for this issue.
With regard to this issue, earlier we suspected it to be related to KB updates in systems and so we asked few other teams to uninstall those updates from the impacted machines. As a result, the issue didn't occurred for few day but again user started to face the issue.
Also, we are running this openspan automation since 2017, but major issues started coming now a days (openspan service not running), we tried finding the history of this exception through logs and results were bit bizarre. There were multiple traces of similar error (service not running) present in error logs.
Now, not sure whether its KB updates or other issue, as if its KB updates then removing them would not be considered as permanent fix. It is scheduled activity which can anytime impact the automation.
Also, if its not just KB updates then what could be the other reason that is impacting the openspan services to stop.
