Pega 5.1 Data properties- Pseudo logic to mimic UDF function
Our PRPC based application is storing some of its data properties in blob format.
These data properties does not have max length defined on property definition.
We want to know what is the max length of data values stored in these properties. Can you help us with best possible way to retrieve max length for each data property.
In Pega 7.2, there is UDF function pr_read_from_stream available using which we can retrieve the content property embedded in blob using SQL query.
This UDF function is not available in Pega 5.1. can you provide us pseudo logic to mimic this function?

With regards to your Max Length question, the below help articles have more information (you mentioned both 5.x and 7.x in your post, so I've included the help for both, but the info on Max Length appear to be the same):
Essentially, the Pega Platform does not limit the length of properties. Your database software could limit it to a certain number of characters if the property is exposed, and server memory might limit how large of a property can be opened out of the blob, so you'll want to keep those kind of operational considerations in mind.
Unfortunately I do not have any information for you regarding your 2nd question, but someone else may be able to help you there.
