Question
Pega 7.1 and IE8 - UI Performance Issues
We are working on some UI where it involves multiple list to list, drop downs and dynamic layouts ( different type of grids) in Pega 7.1.5. There is a huge performance issue we see when we use IE8 to load these screens. Its takes 10-15 seconds to load the screen, although its instant in firefox. Our customer would require these screens and majority of the userbase uses IE8.
There is a note in the platform support guide about this UI slowness with IE8 for Pega 7.1 versions. It works fine with screens without dropdowns or lists.
Has anyone experienced the same and any fix or get around these UI performance issues in IE8 on Pega 7.1.8?
Thanks in advance
Hello Venkat,
Several customers have reported this before and unfortunately they have been pointed to the same note in the platform guide.
"IE8 continues to work with v7.1 with the caveat that IE8 is known to cause client-side performance issues when operating in Standards Mode. Some screens, especially grids and lists which display large amounts of data, may experience sub-optimal performance with IE8. We strongly recommend using another browser which does not have these performance issues, such as IE9, IE10, IE11, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Microsoft is no longer updating IE8, and instead points customers to IE10 or IE11. Therefore, Pegasystems cannot address these client-side performance issues reported with IE8. Customers should consider carefully before using IE8 as the target browser with v7.1."
Thank you,
Sunny
