Personal Edition 8.4 Install Fails
Extracted all folders and ran Install.bat as instructed. Install proceeds then is Unable to connect to database. I had similar issue in the past and tried the same resolution described in this Community post. This did not work here.
It mentions an existing directory so I wondered if the 8.3 instance I have was conflicting. I did not want to lose the 8.3 as I am actively building test and demo implementations on it. PE 8.3 is no longer working after trying to install 8.4

Thanks for posting the query.
To solve this issue, you can try installing the personal edition on another drive like (D, E).
If you are willing to install it on the same drive, you need to delete all the registry files manually.
Here are the steps which I followed to delete the Registry files manually.
Delete installation folder.
Go to Start Menu and search for regedit and open it.
From there hit Ctrl+F to find. Search for word Pega or PRPC and if result you find is related to Pega,
delete that page. You need to repeat this until you clear all the pages.
Once you clear all the pages, you can now install your Pega Personal edition without any issues.
Please note: While deleting the pages, make sure the pages are related to Pega only, not other softwares.
