I have three assignments i want to save the data after each assignment. For example, i can complete 2 steps and logoff and after my lunch i will complete the remaining forms.
I have referred few blogs and got to know that we can control by setting the checkbox in start shape of the sceenflow. I am using version 7.1.6 there i have only one check box "Save at last step". It means by default PEGA commits the data into database table after submission on each assignment.
Please do confirm on this.

This is helpful. What do you mean by save local flowaction at each point in the flow. Suppose if i have 3 assignments in my screen flow, it will have three flow actions. In each flow action i need to call an activity in the post processing. In that activity i will have Obj-Save and Commit to save the changes in the database table.
There is no need for you to do Obj-Save and commit. That will be internally handled by Pega as and when you navigate between flow actions.
Lets say you are in 3rd screen and made some changes, at this point if you decide to log off, the changes done in 3rd screen will be lost. To prevent this from happening you can invoke the OOTB save local action which will persist the work object data.
