Sequence of upgrade steps to do

Hi All,


I will be involved in an upgrade project which uses Customer Service, Customer Service for FS and FSIF frameworks. The current version is 7.1.4, which needs to be upgraded to 8.4. I would like to know the steps to upgrade. As I recall, upgrading directly from 7.1.4 to 8.4 is not possible. But, instead, we would need to do the sequential upgrade to each intermediate versions. Am I correct in saying that the upgrade needs to be done in the below sequence? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

1. First I would need to upgrade the base pega from 7.1.4 to next stable version

2. and then based on the application stack upgrade the next pega fws(FSIF,CS,CSFS) to next stable version.

3. repeat this process till 8.4 version.

Please let me know if there is any  other way to do the upgrade.

Also, we would be  moving from on-premise to the third party cloud. I would like to know what are the challenges in this area to migrate to the third party cloud if anyone has faced any challenges.
