We are currently running PRPC 7.1.9 on WAS and DB2 z/OS. We are considering switching our database platfrom from DB2 z/OS to Oracle. Is there a recommended way on how to do this? Can we just get the rules and data schemas created on Oracle, copy the data and point the application to the new database? Or should we install PRPC 7.1.9 from scratch and then configure a new WAS server to run the application and then migrate our application? Has anyone done this and can share some recommendation/best practice from their experience?

This has been asked before, the sense is that there are many options, pending on your situration:
1. Use native tools to convert/migrate all tables from DB2 z/OS to Oracle, check with Oracle and there are some 3rd party vendors as well. As long as the tools are solid, this approach is probably the easiest and does not involve any pega features.
2. Install fresh copy of Pega on oracle and export RAPs from your old environment to the new one... this is going to be quite manual as you really have to know what to export. You probably still have to figure out how to migrate large data tables. BIX from Pega may have some use cases here.
