The On Prem Application built over Pega 7.3.1 is getting planned to be moved to Cloud Infrastructure with Pega 8.4
Can Application be package (7.3.1) and directly imported on Pega 8, leading the upgrade to happen by default.
Data Migration will be taken care separately. Please suggest.
Yes, you shall package the application from Pega 7.3.1 deployed on-premise and import the package into Pega 8.4 , which is deployed in cloud. Post import of application package, run upgrade wizard to update your application.
Yes, you shall take care of data migration part separately. I would suggest to perform data migration only for stage and production environment. For rest of the lower environments you shall deploy only application package and export only required data from 7.3.1 and import into Pega 8.4.
The approach is to go with a new set up of server, database and Pega 8 in Cloud directly and deploying the application packages done in on prem pega 7.3.1. As per understanding, upgrade happens on deploy and data migration we take care separately.
Is there any infrastructure related or any other issues that may come by not following the tradition approach of running Upgrade script.
As Gowri suggested, post upgrade tasks will be taken care at application end.
