This service listener is responsible for the bootstrap procedure of PRPC nodes that are available to become D-Nodes. This listener is enabled by default, executed at server start up and can be monitored (but not managed) using SMA.
What is a D-Node? A Data Node (D-Node) is a repository for analytical data from a variety of sources. D-Nodes are the supporting mechanism for decision data stores, a specific type of data storage offered by decisioning for high volume and high speed data processing using data sets and data flows. A D-Node is a standard PRPC installation augmented by an embedded Cassandra database process and relies on the Hazelcast PRPC clustering implementation. So, even within DSM, D-Nodes are not only very new in terms of functionality, but also very specific. You need D-Nodes if you are using data flows and decision data stores, otherwise D-Nodes do not come into the (current) picture of DSM functionality.
