Adaptive models belong to the self-learning aspect of Decision Management and are typically used in the absence of historical records. The Adaptive Model rule instances configure adaptive scoring models in the Adaptive Decision Manager (ADM) system. ADM generates adaptive models when a strategy that contains adaptive model components is executed. When models are generated, ADM starts capturing the data relevant to the modeling process.
Its mentioned only when the strategy containing Adaptive model is executed??? Is there any other hidden functionality of adaptive model. When will adaptive model will be executed.
A Decision Architect creates an Adaptive Model to be used in a Strategy. Adaptive Models use Customer properties as predictors. while creating an Adaptive Model, you select the predictors you want Adaptive Decision Manager to monitor for their predictive power. Once it has gathered enough evidence to learn which attributes are good predictors, it will decide which ones will become active and which ones will not.
Now if you add the Adaptive model component in the strategy then only it will execute the adaptive model i.e. it all depends on your strategy that you have designed.
To get clarity on this you can go through the 2nd video(on Page 3) of the topic "Using Decision Analytics in a decision Strategy" from the course "PEGA DECISION CONSULTANT"(available on PDN) which has explained this part how the strategy works without adaptive model and how it works with adaptive model.
