I'm trying to understand how Import Wizard is implemented. I see several activities involved during Import of a RAP. Most of them have Java step, in which messages are logged using oLog. For e.g. oLog.debug, oLog.infoForced etc. To which log file these messages are logged? Do I need to manually enable this logging by making any config change?
The log messages should be written to the PegaRULES log file. The debug log messages will only be written if the logging level has been set to debug. The infoForced log messages will be written each time regardless of the logging level setting.
Adding to what Carissa's already said - If you're trying to set the logging level of an activity to debug, you may want to choose "View Java".
Towards the top of the code you should see a string in the LogHelper constructor. This will be the logger for the activity.
For setting the logging level, you can add these to the prlogging.xml (or prlog4j.xml for later releases). So this will automatically be set when the system is started.
But if you one want to switch this to DEBUG while you are investigating, and don't want to make changes that require an application server restart, you can do this through the Designer Studio > System > Operations > Logs then choose the Logging Level Settings options.
Or if you are using an earlier version of the software and don't have this feature, then you can set this in SMA under Logging and Tracing > Logging Level Settings.
Please note that if you're setting the logging level through these latter two ways, this won't be retained if you restart the application server.
