How to manage ID & Password for Robot to log in to legacy application
We have a legacy application for Robot to log in to. What is the standard practice to manage username and password? My colleague has built such way that username and password is saved in an Excel file and Robot opens the file to get it and use it for credentials. I do not believe this is a right implementation. I also do not think it is good to hard code username and password in a code as well. How do people manage this? Please let me know what the best practice is.
You can also use Assisted signOn way, in which the user credentials are stored on their workstations in a ASO.db file in encrypted manner. Here when you create controls of the user id and password, then run your automation it will ask you for the credentials first time which after you enter will save it in the ASO.db file. Next time it will log you in by using that ASO.db file content.
