Utilize RPA and Robot Manager to run multiple Process Automation in same bot
Could someone help me to understand how I can utilise Robot Manager to assign different jobs(part of different functional processes) to the same bot?
Context Info:- We have multiple discrete processes under a particular Organization Unit. We would like to optimize the resource usage and try to reduce the number of RPA bots in current use. So rather that creating different Work Groups and Work Queues for each RPA bot, is there a way to include the different process in a single BOT and provide jobs/assignments from Robot Manager?
The quick answer is YES it is possible, but the way you do it depends on the use case(s) and applications involved. If you can combine automations in the same solution package, then you can assign different robotic activities to different work queues representing different types work within the same workgroup. The complete solution would then be deployed as a package for the workgroup and your single RPA runtime can register into that workgroup and handle multiple types of work sent to the queues in this workgroup. For more detail see this course:
If you are unable to combine all automations in the single solution, then you can optimize the utilization of your RPA runtimes by moving them among workgroups and thus making the runtimes available to load different packages and execute different types of work this way. This option requires Robot Manager 6, RPA Service, and a bit more of planning and administration. You can learn about this functionality here:
To move robots between work groups either manually or by using a schedule, you need to define a list of eligible work groups for each administrative operator that registered the robots. All the robots that were registered by the same administrative operator can move to those work groups.
