What is the exact use and behavior of a multi process step under a stage?
When we add a step to a stage we can select step type as Single step assignment, Multi step process etc. I understand that single step assignment means a flow with a single assignment and multi-step process means a flow with multiple assignments and the process will come out of that step only after passing through all assignments defined in the flow.
Please correct me if I am wrong. If I am correct, is there any use of multi-step process other than this?
The Case designer with stages and steps is designed to be as a Business Perspective. (To facilitate business users.)
What you have mentioned about multi-step process is correct. More over, in multi step process, it is not only related to assignments. Even if you add a single utility to the flow which is configured as single step assignment in the case designer, the step will automatically change to Multi step process.
Thanks for the explanation Aruldevan. Just to confirm, Single step/ multi step is just to notate in the case designer that the step has either one or multiple actions inside it and at run time, it will be seen as a single step. Correct?
I was actually expecting to see every assignment/ utility we mention in the flow of multi-step as a separate step under the stage at run time as per below article.
Yes, I have tried this and it is not working. So, I guess it works only in 7.2 and it is really helpful to play around the steps (using tickets or any new feature that 7.2 has) as every step is a shape in a single flow.
